About Lovatts

Lovatts Publications is Australia and New Zealand’s leading crossword and puzzle publishing company. Established in 1978 by husband and wife team, James and Christine, Lovatts boast twenty one crossword and puzzle titles in print - twelve of these rate in the 10% of best selling Australian magazines.

A family owned and operated business, Lovatts employ more than 50 staff in three countries. Magazines are distributed throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Lovatts puzzles appear in NW, Woman’s Day, Women’s Weekly, TV Week, Super Foods Ideas, Qantas In-Flight Magazine and many other publications sold throughout Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, United States, Canada and South Africa.

Christine Lovatt, figurehead and founder of the Lovatts company, is best known for her giant crosswords – particularly the Colossus and BIG. The former appears in the Australian and New Zealand Women’s Weekly; the latter in Woman’s Day. Magazine namesakes, Colossus and BIG, are two of Lovatts bestsellers. Also popular is Christine’s Cryptic Crossword Collection. Her expertise at compiling these challenging puzzles has earned her the title of ‘Cryptic Queen’ (read Christine's profile on Wikipedia).

Christine’s affection for readers is evident in her personal columns and in correspondence exchanged with her legion of fans. It is Christine’s ability to impart a sense of belonging that makes the Lovatts brand less corporate and more family – integral to the company's success. Through the eyes of our readers, “Lovatts crossword books are much more than just a collection of puzzles.”

Lovatts proudly supports humanitarian and community organisations including: Red Cross, Life. Be In It, World Vision, MS Readathon and a variety of smaller charities. Five cents from every magazine sold is donated to Red Cross.

Lovatts is a company with great integrity - evident in its attitude to readers, employees and the community. Lovatts reputation as a caring and community-minded company is well earned. And it's a reputation we will work hard to protect.
